Vessel waterways management for the Noosa River

Note - Noosa Waters canals are included in the scope of this proposal

An extract from the link below.

We would like you to have your say on proposed changes to vessel waterways management practices for the Noosa River. The Noosa River is a complex waterway valued economically, environmentally and socially by the people of the Noosa Shire region and its visitors. The congestion and diversity of users on the waterway makes managing the anchoring, mooring and navigation of vessels challenging. The proposed changes are a response to concerns raised by the community, in particular threats to safety and environmental threats. Stakeholder and community input is a vital part of this engagement to ensure that changes to vessel waterways management contribute to achieving safe and equitable access to the Noosa River and surrounding waterways for everyone. Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ), a branch of the Department of Transport and Main Roads, is seeking your feedback through an online survey. Maps are provided which mark the proposed changes to vessel waterways management.

We would like to hear your feedback on the changes we have proposed and how they would impact on you, the waterway and other waterway users.

The survey may take 5 to 10 minutes to complete, depending on how much feedback you wish to provide and is open from Friday 9 December 2022 to Friday 20 January 2023.

This would reduce our sense of privacy, reduce security, would add to noise and rubbish pollution and could expose our public parks and easements to damage and littering ,let alone increase risk of damage to the lock plus increased queueing time there. In a blow , anchored boats can drag and can cause damage to our boats and jetties. (this has happened in the past to people on North Shore).

I have checked with the head of MSQ , Kel Dillon, and this is definitely part of MSQs proposal so don’t think it will never happen. Unless our residents advise them of…
