Entrance Fountain - Latest News

The NWRA Committee is well aware that our Members (indeed, all who live in this Estate) are puzzled about the apparent disrepair of the Fountain. We receive many enquiries asking what is to happen to it.

It is no secret that the wheels of Government can move at a glacial pace. Sometimes, they don’t move at all! It is now 3 years since in principle agreement was reached between the NWRA and the Noosa Council to effect refurbishment of the Fountain. While it might appear that nothing has happened since then, allow me to assure you that the Council and the NWRA have for some time been working together to produce a solution. To be fair to all, we had the small matter of a pandemic to deal with in that period, and that has not helped!

More recently, we have had another series of meetings, and are now at the stage where the cost of the work we are proposing is in the draft Budget. That means that the Councillors have signed off on the project, and unless there is significant community opposition to the work , it will become part of the finalised Budget on June 28.

Once the funds have been released, work will begin to remove part of the structure and to re-landscape the area. The Plan details will be shared once the project is confirmed. Don’t be alarmed by any of the dramatic changes as the disruption will be necessary to produce the entry statement the Estate deserves.

We take this opportunity to thank the Mayor Clare Stewart, the many Council officers involved, and the Councillors themselves for having the vision to see what a valuable addition to the overall amenity of the Estate the completed Fountain will be. We will shortly be posting on this page an artist’s impression of the proposed works in their completed state. Please feel free to give any feedback you consider appropriate to either the NWRA, or the Council itself. We encourage you to thank the Council for facilitating this renovation of our iconic Entrance Fountain.
