We all know there has been a spate of robberies in Noosa Waters. We also know that the majority of the culprits are young "fun-seekers" who are primarily looking for high performance cars that can provide a "thrill".
There are several simple things that can be done to minimise the chance of being a theft victim. Some are blatantly obvious!
Lock your car doors. Many of the thefts are still of unlocked vehicles from drives, closed off yards or unlocked garages.
If the car is garaged, lock the garage and the internal door from the garage if possible.
Lock front and side gates if practical.
Store car keys away from main entrance locations to prevent an easy key snatch but also to prevent thieves starting the car because the key is in the vicinity. Using Radio Frequency Identification, it is now possible for thieves to purchase readers that can pick up your key signal remotely allowing them to start your car. Consider purchasing a RFID blocking wallet that can be used to prevent your devices' signals being replicated.
Lock your front door.
Consider installing security lights/indicators that can be movement triggered.
Consider having security cameras and alarms installed.
So who do you contact regarding these issues? Neighbourhood Watch's advice is clear:
