Dear Members,
Please find the latest update from Council below.
Stage 3 construction commenced as scheduled on 3 October. Work undertaken to date includes:
Installation of bulkhead gates, draining of the lock and relocation of any trapped fish.
Removal of sediment and cleaning of the lock.
Cleaning the weir of debris; however this will be cleaned again at the end of construction, as there is already a build up of vegetation on the weir.
Removal of existing actuators and gearboxes.
Removal of walkway handrails and ladders. These are currently being resprayed offsite.
Removal of the four existing lock gates.
Removal of wall and floor seals.
Commencement of the installation of wall seals.
Demolition of lock jetty.
Commencement of installation of jetty lock bearers, joists and decking.
The work is progressing well and is currently on schedule. This week we have found some unexpected corrosion in the gate pivot hold down bolts. We are currently assessing this issue and determining the rectification methodology. At this stage it is unclear if this will cause any delays to the program. If there are any delays to the program, we will notify NWRA and residents.
Council will be distributing the attached letter to current card holders for the Noosa Waters lock this week. The letter outlines changes to the lock access, access options and how the new access options will be made available.
There is no attached form to get the new fob!
