Dear Members,
Below is the link to NWRA's submission to Maritime Safety Queensland relating to the proposed changes to vessel waterways management practices for the Noosa River. The changes as currently proposed have a direct impact on the waterfront residents, and indirectly on all members, as the mooring of vessels on the canal would potentially result in non-resident traffic and vehicle parking in the area.

It's still not to late to have your say! The link below will take you to the survey option, but you can also provide a written response by emailing consultation@msq.qld.gov.au without having to work through all of the questions on the survey.
Note submissions close this Friday 20 January 2023.
Kind Regards,

The proposed regulations refer to anchoring but should distinguish between anchoring and mooring. Anchoring, presumably defined as lowering an anchor by chain and/or rope from a vessel to secure it to the sea floor, involves a wide destructive sweep of the anchoring chain and rope dragging across the seafloor for each vessel in response to tide and wind changes. A 5:1 ratio of chain/rope: water depth is recommended which means that a circle around 20 metres diameter can be cleared by each boat anchored in 2 metr…
Very well done NWRA
